After a 3 hours bus drive from Sapporo airport we arrived at our destination under a heavy snow fall, sweet.
It`s 6pm and at 7pm will be riding powder under the lights for 2 hours, unforgettable. For the next two days, we rode Furano and the powder that is everywhere to be found.
Special mention to the two girls on the trip for riding all day everyday and progressing with a smile, well done. Now everybody got their snow legs back so it was time to go and shred some semi secret spot around Hokkaido.
Tomamu was the first spot, there is a good half pipe and some jumps and boxes, really cool place, the afternoon was spend riding in the trees powder, powder and more powder with no one around. There is also a wave pool at the resort…
Kamui, the next day was a really cool place to ride with quite challenging tree run and a potential to scare yourself in the super deep japow. Big up to all the riders riding and jumping the mushrooms, so much fun and very cold. We will definately come back to this spot next year, massive potential for pillow lines.
After that for the next day we rode Furano under very heavy snow fall. Knee to waist deep on every run. Make sure you keep your mouth closed in the powder!!!!!!! We were lucky enough to ride with Lee and Sechi (from North Country Inn) and Andy (a Furano Regular). These guys really know this place. Thanks again! We did ride until 9pm.
The last day was sunny and fast and we all felt that our legs were begging for rest.
Now that we are back in Sunny Melbourne, it`s hard not to think about the next trip to Hokkaido in 2008. I`m already visualising the lines we`ll be riding, the mushrooms will be jumping and the tall beers we`ll be drinking. Oh! And lest not forget the amazing food!
What a trip!
